Tems may be a celebrity now, but she’s still very introverted [Glamourmagazine]
Nigeria’s beloved and famously introverted star, Tems, has humorously shared why she’s not particularly fond of phones. The Afrobeats sensation recently graced the cover of Germany’s Glamour Magazine, where she opened up about preferring to live in the moment rather than staying attached to her smartphone.
She explained, “I don’t really like my smartphone. I’d much rather live in the world and have real experiences. If I find even the smallest excuse to leave my phone in a drawer, I’ll take it every time. I’d say it’s my management and especially my family—my mother and my brother—that help keep me grounded.”
The Me And You singer also emphasized the importance of staying present. “Ultimately, you have to stay present, be self-aware, and take care of yourself. That’s the only way to grow, learn new perspectives on life, and constantly reassess things. I wouldn’t change a thing about my life.”
Reflecting on the early days of her career, Tems admitted she was quite naive. “I won’t lie, I was very naive when I started. I just wanted to create good art. But I had to learn how to navigate the music industry in a healthy way,” she shared.
She also stressed the importance of self-awareness, stating, “You won’t get far in life if you don’t know who you are. That’s the most sustainable path, not just in music, but in any field. I believe your authentic self will naturally attract the right people.”
