In a recent interview on Echo Room, Spyro shared that he had been preparing to release the remix of his hit single “Billing” featuring Davido, but was stopped from doing so before the song could drop.

According to Spyro, Davido’s manager, Asa Asika, intervened and halted the release of the remix. At the time, the four-time Grammy nominee had too many collaborations in the works and was also gearing up for the release of his new album.

“David was on the remix of ‘Billing’. We planned to drop it as the original, but some people blocked it from being released,” Spyro explained.

He also praised musician and blogger Tunde Ednut for playing a key role in facilitating the collaboration, mentioning that while he was reaching out to Davido, Tunde Ednut was doing the same to make it happen.

After being informed that the song couldn’t be released, Spyro said he visited Davido at his home to resolve the issue, but the situation didn’t change as some people were still opposed to the song’s release.

When asked about the reason behind the decision to hold off on the song, Spyro revealed it was due to the fact that he didn’t want to distribute the track through The Plug, a company owned by Tobi Mohammad, Bizzle Osikoya, and Davido’s manager.

Spyro shared that Asa Asika’s name kept popping up as the person behind the decision to scrap the release.
“It was very painful for me and it’s one of the things that made me almost lose hope,” Spyro said on how the decision to stop the release denied him the chance of having a big hit.

Spyro’s ‘Billing’ released in 2022 played a notable role in rocketing him to the mainstream.
The announcement of a Davido collaboration excited listeners who anticipated the single but it was eventually scrapped alongside other Davido guest appearances including Wande Coal‘s ‘Come My Way’.
