In a recent interview, Spyro shared his experience of being signed to businessman Paul Okoye’s One Music Africa Fest label for two years, with little to show for it.
Spyro explained that he initially joined the label because he believed it had the resources to elevate his career. However, during his two years there, he was often left “in tears and crying.”
The singer revealed that the label failed to invest in “Funke,” his collaboration with four-time Grammy nominee Davido and Mayorkun. As a result, he and his business partner were forced to take out loans to promote the song.
He also shared that he saw “hell” in the hands of the label staff who treated him like he had no say despite Paul O’s best efforts to keep them in line. Despite his bitter experience at the label, Spyro restates his respect and love for Paul O and thanked the businessman for putting him on.
