On January 2, 2024, Darkoo released a new single titled ‘Focus On Me (All the sexy girls in the club)’.
On the vibrant single which went viral on TikTok before its release, she sampled P-Square‘s hit record ‘Gimme Dat’ off their 2009 album ‘Danger’.The music video inspired by P-Square’s video for ‘Gimme Dat’ was released days later before it was taken down over copyright infringements. In a post on her X account on January 11, 2025, Darkoo revealed that Peter, also known as Mr. P from the iconic P-Square duo, had removed her music video for six days in an apparent attempt to sabotage the song. According to Darkoo, the 45-year-old music legend acted out of spite after she declined his request to be featured on the track.

She explained that although Peter had initially been promised a spot on the remix, his demands were not met, which led him to take drastic measures. Darkoo emphasized that she had cleared the sample properly and even offered 50% of the royalties to P-Square as a sign of respect for their legacy.

Throughout the process, Darkoo praised Paul Okoye (Rudeboy) and Jude Okoye for their support in clearing the sample, while singling out Mr. P for complicating matters. She also clarified that she had all the necessary legal clearances in place, insisting that her actions were fully legitimate.

Darkoo shared a direct message to her followers, stating, “I wasn’t going to say anything, but my music video was taken down for six days by Peter of P-Square in an attempt to completely sabotage the song. Fortunately, the video is back up now. Let me be clear: I had all the necessary clearance for the sample. This isn’t my first time using a sample, and I did everything by the book.”

She continued, “To put things in perspective, they were getting 50%, which is rightfully theirs. Yet, Mr. P wanted to be featured on the song and even made his own verse. He told me not to communicate with his brothers, Jude and Paul, who, by the way, were incredibly helpful in resolving issues. He said they would bring ‘unnecessary problems’ for me.”

Darkoo went on to explain that once the song was released, Peter switched on her and started creating problems because he wanted to be featured. Despite her willingness to include him on the remix, his frustration led him to attempt to sabotage the song instead. “Taking my video down wasn’t about copyright or contracts. It was because he didn’t get what he wanted—to be featured,” she said. “He told my team that I ‘disrespected him,’ which is why he took the video down.”

She expressed how deeply the situation had affected her, saying it had hurt her fans and jeopardized all the time and resources she had invested in the project. “It’s heartbreaking because I grew up admiring him. To see someone I once looked up to try to hurt me and block my success is incredibly painful.”

Darkoo concluded by reaffirming that all the necessary paperwork had been handled correctly: “For the record, I had the clearance, the contracts, the paperwork from ‘P-Square.’ I made sure their rights were respected and that everything was done the right way. This isn’t how our OGs are supposed to act. It’s sad and disappointing.”THE VIDEO IS BACK UP NOW.) https://t.co/i2Jo1OVsKz

Darkoo emphasized that Mr. P’s behavior was uncharacteristic of a legend, particularly one she had admired while growing up.

She also confirmed that the music video has now been restored on YouTube. Darkoo’s latest single has been widely praised for its catchy appeal and the nostalgic feeling it evokes.

Looking ahead, Darkoo is focused on overcoming this setback as she prepares for a successful 2025.

As of now, Mr. P has yet to respond to Darkoo’s allegations, while continuing to make headlines for controversial reasons, with the most recent being his ongoing feud with his brothers, Paul and Jude Okoye.
