Asake’s third album, Lungu Boy, has been named the biggest album of 2024.

This announcement came from TurnTable in the release of its annual year-end chart. Lungu Boy earned 214.4 million streams (equivalent to 143,000 units) to top the list.

Released on August 8, 2024, the album features collaborations with Nigerian Grammy-winner Wizkid, British rappers Stormzy and Central Cee, and Brazilian star Ludmilla. Asake crafted the project with the aim of expanding his reach to a global audience.

According to TurnTable Charts, songs from Lungu Boy garnered more streams across platforms than any other album in 2024.

Seyi Vibez’s EP NAHAMciaga took the No. 2 spot with 174.9 million streams (116,600 units), largely driven by the hit singles “Different Patterns,” which was the most-streamed song of 2024 on Apple Music Nigeria, and “Cana,” which also made the top 5.

Young Jonn’s debut album Jiggy Forever ranks as the third biggest album of 2024, with 162.2 million streams (108,000 units). His commitment to creating tracks that resonate with listeners helped fuel the success of hits like “Aquafina,” “Bahamas,” “Stronger,” and “Big Big Things” featuring Kizz Daniel and Seyi Vibez.

Rema’s bold sophomore LP HEIS is the fourth biggest album of 2024, amassing 153.8 million streams (102,533 units). On this project, the Grammy nominee blended energetic delivery, powerful lyrics, and high-octane production to reclaim Afrobeats’ dance floors from the grip of Amapiano.

Asake’s 2023 sophomore album Work of Art ranks fifth on the list with 148 million streams (98,666 units), solidifying his dominance in the mainstream. The album’s singles, “Lonely at the Top” and “Remember,” continue to resonate widely.
