Veteran Nollywood actress Eucharia Anunobi recently took to Instagram to share some empowering advice with her followers, encouraging them to stop seeking validation from others. On December 19, 2024, she used her platform to highlight the importance of self-acceptance and independence from public opinion.

In the video she posted, she asked, “Why do you want everyone to like you? Even ice cream isn’t liked by everyone, so why stress?”

Her caption read, “Seeking to be liked by everyone is a sign of emotional and spiritual imbalance! Some people will hate you simply because it brings them joy. It’s in their nature to be wicked! So, learn to live with not being liked!! 1 John 5:19.”

The actress’s post sparked a variety of reactions in her comment section, ranging from supportive remarks to deep reflections.

Actress Sola Sobowale simply commented, “Fact.”

Other followers shared their thoughts, with one writing, “Anyone who is always seeking validation from the public every time they do something, just know that person isn’t in a good place 💯.”

Another follower said, “Caring about what people think is natural. But letting it dictate your actions and prevent you from doing what you believe in usually points to deeper issues.”

One Instagram user elaborated further, saying:

“Codependency conditioning. The core belief in codependency is that what people think of me defines how I see myself. My mother always said, ‘Your opinion of me is none of my business.’ It can be exhausting trying to see yourself through others’ eyes. No matter how pure your intentions, you can’t control how people perceive you. Let others see you as they will—it’s a reflection of them, not your truth. The real question is, do you see yourself?”

Another commenter added, “I don’t like people who want to be liked by everyone. Just be yourself and move on.”

One more follower wrote, “Exactly! It’s okay to be the ‘bad guy’ in someone else’s story. Only God is perfect 👍.”
